Psalm 57

This Sunday night we are taking a look at Psalm 57. Most commentators believe it was written when David was on the run from King Saul hiding in a cave with his troops at En Gedi, fearing for his life. David had lost his friend, he would never see Jonathan again. His advisor Samuel has died, even his own wife had turned against him. There was only one thing for David to do, to call upon the mercy of God and look to the Most High. As we look at this psalm tonight we are going to learn some valuable lessons of what we are to do when we find ourselves in a pickle with no one to help.

The Crook: Psalm 23

Last week we looked at Psalm 22 - a prophetic psalm pointing to the cross. This coming Sunday we look at perhaps the best known of all the psalms, Psalm 23. It's about the Lord being our shepherd, and our relationship with Him today. I'm expecting God to speak into our hearts and encouage us through this Psalm, and to build us up in Him.

Expectant 2

"Expectant" was the theme of this year's Elim Leaders' Summit. The word "expectant" was spelled out in big illuminated characters mounted on the stage as the backdrop to everything that was said. Two week's on, I've still been pondering this word, and more importantly how God wants us to be an expectant church. So, this Sunday evening I want to bring a message that will enlarge our faith so that we don't just hope God will do great things, but expect God to do great things in us and through us.

Teach Us to Pray

In Luke 11 one of the disciples approached Jesus and asked "Lord teach us to pray". As we continue to explore what prayer in the church should look like, there's no better place to look than at Jesus' response to the disciple's request. I don't believe what has become known as the Lord's Prayer was ever intended to be recited word for word, but more as a format for prayer with principles to be followed. It is these principles that we will be looking at tonight.
