Faith that is Dependent on God. Hebrews 11:32

So far in Hebrews the writer has mentioned heroes of faith by name and given a brief explanation of how they exercised it. Now the writer just mentions people by name and events by name expecting his Jewish audience, who had a good knowledge of the bible, to be familiar with who and what he is talking about.  Perhaps we are not so familiar, so this week I want to look at the faith of Gideon. When we first meet him he is full of fear, frightened of his own shadow. But by faith he leads the Israelites into victory because he was totally dependent upon God. The story is an example to us that when we look at ourselves and all looks helpless, with God all things are possible. I’m reminded of the scripture: “not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.” Zephaniah 4:6
It's a wonderful account full of gems of truth that can change our lives for ever. Come and be blessed and encouraged!

Where we meet

Our church is based in Honley, in the Holme Valley, four miles south of Huddersfield. We worship on Sunday evenings at 18:00pm in the Trinity Church building at Moorbottom.
