The Problem of Job

I have discovered over the years that when disaster strikes and God’s blessing seems to be absent, that many Christians will cite Job and point to God as being behind all their problems. When their child is stillborn,  when there's a cancer diagnosis, or there is some financial calamity, they will quote Job “the Lord gives and the Lord takes away”.  One of the most popular Christian songs sung in churches today espouses this thought; that it is God who blesses, but He is also the one who takes away and brings disaster. What are we to make of this?  As I will explain in my message this Sunday it all depends on a proper understanding of God, of Satan, and our New Covenant relationship with God. I’ll conclude with 8 reasons why Job is different to the New Testament Christian and why we should base our theology on the words ofJesus, not Job. God want us to live by faith, not fate.
It's all good stuff. I pray that as we study God’s Word together we are going to be blessed.

Where we meet

Our church is based in Honley, in the Holme Valley, four miles south of Huddersfield. We worship on Sunday evenings at 18:00pm in the Trinity Church building at Moorbottom.
